Escaped from Alcatraz?

Scientists like to have fun too. So sometimes, when they are busy doing ‘serious’ work, they will suddenly see a possibility to play around a little.

If you are making a model to predict the water movement in the Bay Area, why not see if you can predict where the escapees from Alcatraz ended up, if they ever made it!?

And that’s exactly what my friend Rolf Hut and his colleagues did!

According to their modelling efforts, if the escapees left Alcatraz at about midnight, they might have actually made it ashore alive… Let’s see if three old men will come and check their presentation today 😉
