I love a good sense of humour.
In most parts of Europe, tipping does not form such an integrated part of service as it for example does in the US – waiters and waitresses simply don’t depend as strongly, or at all, on tips to boost their income (a lot of the time this also means service is not nearly as good ;)).
This does not mean you don’t see tipping cups at many establishments – my favourite coffee place has one that says: Wishing Well, and consists of a glass bowl filled with water (and coins obviously).
I came across this funny one in a small Danish ice cream shop called Miss Sofie, located in Hafencity in Hamburg. It definitely made me smile 🙂 but perhaps what actually surprised me is that the sign was not in German… Though I can imagine it would lose the pun of the joke if it would be!
