Weekly Photo Challenge: Hands

© See Love Remember, 2012

One would give generously if one had the eyes to see the beauty of a cupped receiving hand

 – Johann Wolfgang von Goethe –

Bhumisparsha Mudra – touching the Earth, or Earth witness, hand gesture – is signified by holding the left hand in meditation, while the right is resting on the knee with all fingers touching the Earth.

It is a symbol for the coming together of wisdom (left hand) and method (right hand).

This is the hand gesture Siddhartha Gautama is said to have held when he reached enlightenment and became Buddha.

According to Buddhism, the existence of all things is interdependent.

So is it not better to give?

Who knows what you may receive in return…
