This is the southwest façade of the Insitute du Monde Arabe – the Arab World Institute – in Paris.
And it is awesome, when you look at its architecture.
What you see is a wall filled with 240 geometric motifs, that serve as a brise soleil to help control the amount of light and heat coming into the building through the glass.
In fact, the entire façade consists of photo-sensitive, motor-controlled apertures!
The shutters open and close automatically depending on the light, creating an atmosphere of filtered light on the inside.
Sun. Photography. Architecture. Perfect combination 🙂
